Computers and Older People

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Surely everyone has heard the adage, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks." However, this does not necessarily refer to helping older people learn how to operate their computer. Today, most kids can at least turn on a computer, and they might play educational computer games regularly. Middle and high schoolers are taught basic computer classes, along with keyboarding. But what about the elderly?

For a generation that grew up without the convenience of cell phones and GPS navigation systems, computers can indeed seem daunting. However, using the computer and connecting to the internet can be very beneficial for older people for several reasons.

First, connect older people to an email account. Because email tends to be an easier method of communication than talking on the phone for some young people, typing a quick message can be a great way of staying in touch with grandparents. Also, with kids proficient with digital cameras these days, it can be an excellent idea to include a few photos as well. This can be a wonderful experience for families who live too far apart to see each other regularly.

Once an older person has mastered email, jump into the internet. There are plenty of things located on the web that could be helpful for an elder person: online grocery shopping with home delivery, medical websites, and all of the other benefits that also apply to everyone else. Additionally, learning to use the internet and having to search for things online can be a good mental exercise.

If a young person is not available to teach an elderly person how to use the computer and internet, an increasing amount of communities are offering classes specifically to older people for this exact purpose. Some churches and libraries in your area might offer classes like this.

Remember, you can only teach someone what they want to learn. Therefore, listen to the older person to determine what exactly they want out of a computer. Don't force them into learning all about Youtube if they will not be watching videos online. Try to make it as basic as possible, without giving a multitude of options for the same task.

Finally, websites themselves can make it easier for elderly people to access their sites. If you are targeting your site towards the older generation, make your website's content clear, with direct headings and concise information. Too much information all squished onto one page can be overwhelming for anyone.

Also, good customer service can be a huge help to the elderly trying to glean information from a business's website. One idea is to provide a live chat service on your web page to answer any questions that a person, elderly or otherwise, might have when looking at your site. An excellent live chat service provider is Ngage.

What is Computer Games and PSP Games Reviewed

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Without a doubt one of the most growing fields of the entertainment industry continues to be the computer games industry. The PC (Personal Computer) has developed into a total entertainment package with movies, music, games and more. Along with this growth has developed the personal games consoles. One of the most successful of these is the PSP - Playstation Portable - because of its small size yet capability to play games, music and movies.

One of the best things I ever did was buy my son a PSP for Christmas - he loves it. And like all parents - striving for quiet time - it is a great attention holder. On top of that I can use it for disciple - i.e. you can't play on your PSP - is as greater a punishment as a smack or other punishments. Thankfully my son's are on the whole very well behaved and after they finish their homework I like to reward them with time to do what they want to do. Often this is the PSP. The PSP games often variety and cost value. How often do I hear? Dad can I have a new PSP game. However as a parent how do you know what games are worth buying?

That is where it is nice to have a website - or in this case a blog that reviews computer and PSP games. I created the blog - computer games and PSP games reviewed to give a short review on the games we brought and how we found them. While many are games my son enjoys I have to be honest - I love playing with the PSP as well and their are some games - like the Godfather - which I play but would never let my son play until he is older. On top of that their are other PSP utilities like passport to London and other cities that I have brought and reviewed - because the computer and PSP have developed not just into a games machine - but a total entertainment package.

Best Cheap Gaming Computers

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Well, I finally got tired of it. I have been playing WarRock - a free, first person war game - with my brother. My gaming computer wasn't really slow, but it just wasn't fast enough. It always seemed like I was half a second behind, and the graphics weren't as good as I had seem on my brother's PC. So I went looking for the best cheap gaming computers, and this is what I found.

My budget was about $1,000. I knew that $1,000 wasn't going to buy the best gaming computer in the world, but it would get me off to a real good start. I wanted a computer that was not maxed out because I wanted to be able to enhance it if I needed. Since I didn't want to spend much more than $1,000, I started by looking at this IBuyPower Gamer Extreme 940i Desktop computer.

In my opinion, this is one of the best cheap gaming computers. It has a 2.8 GHz processor, and 4GB of dual channel memory. Its hard drive is huge at 750GB, and it also comes with a 24x DVD-RW drive. Its graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTS250 1GB graphics card. It is not a top of the line card, but it is certainly more than acceptable. You will also get the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

Another great benefit of this PC is that it comes with plenty of space. It has 10 USB ports, and 4 unused 5.25" bays for adding just about anything you want. It is also a very easy PC to setup - it is basically ready right out of the box. This Gamer Extreme 940i is very easy to work on, so if you are a gaming junkie like me, you will like that a lot.

The second product I looked at in my search for the best cheap gaming computers was this iBuyPower Extreme 542D3 Desktop Gaming Computer. It has a 3.2 GHz Athlon AMD processor, so it has a lot more giddy-up-and-go than my 2.1 GHz CPU. It has 4 GB of dual channel memory, and a 500 GB hard drive. Now its graphics card is a 1GB ATI Radeon graphics card, and it comes with Microsoft Windows 7 Home edition.

Another one of the best cheap gaming computers is the iBuyPower 901TO. The 2.3 GHz processor is slightly slower than the one above, but not enough that you are going to notice. Its hard drive is much smaller at 320 GB (as opposed to the 500 GB), but it does have the 4 GB hard drive.

The graphics card is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500. The problem is that you are really going to need a dedicated graphics card for good gaming, so you will probably end up buying another graphics card. But the Intel Media Accelerator will get you started - just depends on how good you want your graphics to be.

You do get some pretty decent speakers with this gaming computer. I can't find the specs on the manufacturer's page, but they have to better than the other ones come with - which is none. This IBuyPower 901TO is about as low as you want to go on the price. You get much lower than this, and you just aren't really getting one of the best cheap gaming computers.

Multiplayer Shooting Games

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Multiplayer shooting games are some of the most fascinating online games you could ever be involved with. The reason why is because you're immersing yourself in an environment in which you're not only interacting with the computer game itself -- but also with other players who are not even in the same room with you. As a result, there is a level of complexity and realism to the game you are playing that can only be rivaled by physically going out and playing some kind of interactive game with people in real life.

What very few people realize is the fact that online multiplayer shooting has been around for quite some time. In the mid-1990s, the concept of multiplayer shooting games really began to take off and become popular. In fact, tournaments started to be organized by people who were interested in taking the concept of multiplayer games of this nature to the next level. Today, the level of realism is completely unprecedented.

If you are somebody who has seriously thought about playing a multiplayer shooter, you really owe it to yourself to get involved. Don't necessarily let yourself be persuaded by the people who seem to suggest that those who get involved with online multiplayer shooting are somehow troubled or predisposed to being bad people -- nothing could be further from the truth. One of the best ways to get started is to do what you're doing right now -- learning more about this type of genre or niche game. But will you really need to do is to start playing again yourself and to get involved with other people who are active participants.

Remember, multiplayer games are incredibly fun. They are a fantastic way to let off some steam and to just enjoy yourself after a long day at work or school.

Farmville Strategy Guide Pro Or Con

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The game of Farmville is on fire! People just can't get enough of this extreme game. The Farmville strategy guide put out by Tony Sanders is designed to accelerate the farmers process. The question being, is it worth your investment?

By now your probably asking yourself, what's all the hype? Why would anyone need help with a game like Farmville? You plant a bunch of stuff wait for it to grow and pick it, what's so difficult about that? The answer to that is, not a heck of a lot. However, to have a farm that's productive, profitable and colossal is something quite different.

The Farmville Strategy Guide was written by someone who mastered the game without cheats, bots or any other illegal means. These hints and strategies are just that, a guide to help you, not get you banned from the game.

The Math
In this guide you are shown unique processes to advance your levels at rapid rates. A lot of things shown in this guide the average person such as myself would overlook. The math in Farmville is very important if you want to level up quickly and when you have neighbors all around you doing just that and you can't figure out how there doing it, well my friends...I think maybe they had a little help!

The Cash
If you don't get the cash you can't buy the goodies, now can you? It's imperative that you get the coin in as quickly as possible. Adding buildings, vehicles, houses, barns and decorations all takes money and lots of it. If you look at some of the items that your neighbors give you and check out the cost of said items, you will be amazed. Not something you'll be buying yourself in the beginning.

Pro or Con
This guide is definitely a pro! It will unquestionably help you go to the next level, no pun intended. A lot of hard work and research went into the making of this guide and there is no question about that when you see the results.

The Pride
Picture this, a villa sitting in the middle of acres of prime rich land, with crops flourishing, tons of neighbors helping you out, buildings of every shape and size, animals galore and lots and lots of decorations but the best part is, it's your farm!
